What Does Eczema Look Like

Natural Eczema Treatment

Eczema most commonly causes dry, reddened skin that itches and/or burns. The appearance of eczema varies from person to person and varies according to the specific type of eczema. Sometimes, eczema may lead to blisters and oozing lesions, but can also result in dry and scaly skin. Repeated scratching may lead to thickened, crusty skin which can be relived with natural eczema treatments.

While any area of the body can be affected by eczema, in children and adults, eczema typically occurs on the face, neck, and the insides of the elbows, knees, and ankles. These are the exact places that my eczema is located, except for my face and neck. My normal affected areas are on my ankles, inside knees and the inside of my elbows. I occasionally get eczema on my stomach which I think is caused by my belt buckle and sweating. Eczema typically occurs on the forehead, cheeks, forearms, legs, scalp, and neck on infants. My daughter, age 2, is also starting to show signs of eczema on her stomach and little on her back. I will do what I can to keep it under control with natural eczema treatments or try to cure it all together.

The Reason For The Itch

There has been many substances that have been identified as the reason for the itch patients have with eczema. The reasons are usually not the same from patient to patient. Many times it is difficult to identify the exact trigger that causes a rash. For some, it seems that rough or coarse materials coming into contact with the skin causes itchiness. For others, feeling too hot and/or sweating will cause an outbreak. Other people find that certain soaps, detergents, disinfectants, contact with juices from fresh fruits and meats, dust mites, and animal saliva and danders may trigger itching. Upper respiratory infections (caused by viruses) may also be triggers. Stress can also sometimes aggravate an existing flare-up.

According to National Institutes of Health, they estimate that 15 million people in the United States have some form of eczema. About 10 percent to 20 percent of all infants have eczema; however, in nearly half of these children, the skin irritations will improve greatly by the time they are between 5 and 15 years of age. Others will have some form of skin irritation throughout their lives.

In my case I am one of the ones to have it throughout the rest of my life. Some have it all over their bodies, which I'm grateful I don't have. I have it on arms and legs, usually when I'm real hot and/or sweaty. It is the worst because it itches so bad that I have to fight from scratching.

There are natural eczema treatments out there, you just have to find it. There is a treatment for you.
